Back in December 2006, while visiting my folks back in South Carolina, I had the pleasure of renting a 2006 Shelby GTH. I was hooked within the first five minutes. My first car having been a 1969 Mustang, I knew that I wouldn't be happy until I had an S197 of my own. I sill own the '69, but she is currently undergoing a very slow resto-mod and is not streetable at the moment.
So after returning home in early January 2007, I strolled down to the local Ford Dealer and placed an order for my 2007 Premium GT. I should have picked a better dealer, but that is water under the bridge as far as I am concerned. I didn't get all the options that asked for (spoiler delete, heated seats, power passenger seat and 18" polished fan blades), but I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world.
Six long months later, she arrived:
It was exciting to see my name on the window sticker.
Only a few days after I picked her up from the dealer in July 2007.
About a week later with new wheels and tires. Flowmaster exhaust installed.
About two weeks after I got her, took a little drive out to Lake Cushman and got her dirty.
Second mod was the Ford Racing Performance Products FR-3 Handling Pack.
Since the car came with the intake plenum cover from the factory, I had to go with the Bullitt strut tower brace (same as the V6) to achieve the necessary clearance to keep the cover installed.
